FC Midtjylland has started the 2023-24 Superliga season with two wins from their first two matches, and the club’s captain, Rasmus Nissen Kristensen, is happy with the team's performance but expresses disappointment over how the match against AC Horsens concluded.
After a convincing 2-1 victory at home, Kristensen acknowledges that his team deserved to take three points. However, he feels let down by the final stages of the game where they allowed their opponents back into contention. He tells TV 2 Sport:
- 'We earned three well-deserved points, but we are a bit disappointed with how the last half went. It became more even, and they got closer, but I don’t think they were dangerous after the reduction.' Kristensen adds that despite the narrow win, he is pleased with their defensive efforts in the first half.
The match started well for FC Midtjylland, as Franculino Djú and Friday Etim put them 2-0 ahead. However, AC Horsens reduced the deficit just before the hour mark, making the final stages more tense but ultimately secure for the home team with a 2-1 win.
- 'In that way, I am very happy with how we defended at home, but it is unnecessary to end up 2-1. Two matches and two victories can’t be taken from us,' Kristensen concludes.
Both of FC Midtjylland's early wins have been narrow affairs; in the first round, they beat Sønderjyske 3-2. The team now faces a Conference League qualifier against Irish side Bohemians next week before hosting Lyngby in the Superligaen on Saturday.
